Den of Wolves: Empress of Rome Book 1 by Luke Devenish. Fiction. In ancient Rome, future empress Livia Drusilla begins her rise to power.
Shadow of the Swords: An Epic Novel of the Crusades by Kamran Pasha. The 12th century sultan Saladin finds himself at war with King Richard the Lionheart and in love with a Jewish girl with a tragic past.
The Hostage Queen by Freda Lightfoot. Novel about 15th century French queen Marguerite de Valois, who was held hostage by her own family.
If you could only read one of these books, which would it be? I would pick “The Sultan’s Shadow” because of the unusual subject matter. There aren’t many books in English about royalty in the Middle East, Oman, and/or Arab princesses. Which book would you choose?

Queen Rania of Jordan has co-authored a book called The Sandwich Swap, but I don’t think anyone in her story actually turns into a peanut butter sandwich. That might make a good sequel.
